The biggest scam pulled on teachers has been convincing them to “do it for the kids” & vilifying them when they ask for anything for them (like a cost of living raise). It is a job. An important one, yes. But a job. It pays the mortgage. It’s not a calling from the heavens.
@ETFOeducators@ETFOpresident Thank goodness for teachers talking about this on social media! Heard nothing about it from my school board, and P didn't know it existed!
@teachbk My last prep time was spent helping a diabetic student manage his sugar levels, going to the bathroom, then had just enough time to make one set of copies.
Every educator who did work today or is planning to tomorrow should ask:
What is wrong with our systems that we don’t have enough time Monday to Friday?
& why do we put up with this??
Every time I think I’m great at engaging my students, keeping them on task and maintaining their undivided attention— the universe sends a fly, bee, spider, mouse, snowflake, raindrop, bird, squirrel or an unidentified smell to keep me humble.
No child, student or parent should be worrying about EQAO standardized tests. Especially not this year.
Expecting an 8 year old to type 100-150 words independently in an online test... this government is completely disengaged from reality.

Meaning of absenteeism: The practice of regularly staying away from work or school without good reason.
Please stop using word "absenteeism" to describe educators who are away from work b/c they are sick with COVID. This is not absenteeism. They are away b/c they are sick
I was intrigued to learn that school boards were required to post number of HEPA filters on their website- so I did a little sleuthing. 18 boards did not have any data posted that I could find. 5 boards had HEPAs in every class: LKDSB, TCDSB, TDSB, UCDSB, and UGDSB.
