HDI advocates for and supports, inclusive, health-friendly policies and services for everyone regardless of social, cultural, economic or any other status.
Dr. Kagaba emphasized the critical role of civil society in evidence generation, accountability, and addressing stigma through capacity building of private providers, ensuring services remain youth-friendly, rights-based, and equity-driven.
The discussion underscored that private sector engagement must complement public systems, with strong safeguards to protect affordability, inclusion, and youth agency in increasingly market-based FP approaches. #RHNKPanAfricanConference2026
We are delighted to participate in the 9th RHNK Pan-African Adolescent & Youth SRHR Scientific Conference #RHNKPanAfricanConference2026, which is happening in #Mombasa, #Kenya, under the theme: “Strengthening SRHR to achieve youth agency, full potential and meaningful engagement in Africa’s dynamic socio-political and economic landscape.” The conference brings together policymakers, researchers, youth advocates, and partners from across Africa to advance adolescent and youth #AdvancingHealth Rights
Today, our Executive Director Dr. @aflodiskagaba
joined a high-level panel on: “Expanding family planning in the private sector in light of dwindling donor funding.” The session examined how private sector engagement can help sustain and expand access to family planning services across Africa. #RHNKPanAfricanConference2026
Community Health Workers conduct the crucial role of household follow-ups, supporting adherence, and ensuring patients remain in care until treatment completion. This community-led approach has showed that it can improve TB outcomes and bring services closer to households.
#AdvancingHealthRights
As part of integrated response, we are working with Rwanda Biomedical Centre (@RBCRwanda), @GlobalFund, district health teams, and community health workers to strengthen TB contact tracing at village level across @BugeseraDistr. The focus is early detection of #TB cases and timely linkage to treatment.
#AdvancingHealthRights
Through peer-led outreach and facility-based support, female sex workers are being linked to antenatal care, HIV testing, ART, #PMTCT services, and follow-up for HIV-exposed infants.
The aim is to ensure earlier access, better continuity of care, and reduced barriers caused by stigma or discrimination.
#AdvancingHealthRights#
From 1–5 June 2026, we are in @BugeseraDistr, where we are working with Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC) @RBCRwanda, and the @GlobalFund to expand access to #HIV, #TB and Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT) services for key and priority populations.
One of the key focus areas is improving maternal health services for female sex workers through targeted outreach and referral to stigma-free health facilities.

As we put May behind us, we reflect on the importance of sustained outreach in refugee settings, where access to services and information can change lives.
At HDI, we remain committed to working alongside communities to promote protection, dignity, health, and zero tolerance for GBV. #AdvancingHealthRights
The month of May reminded us that supporting refugee communities means more than showing up, it means bringing services, information, dignity, and hope closer to people who need them most.
In Mahama Refugee Camp and the surrounding host community in @KireheDistrict, we were able to engage more than 800 people through a community outreach campaign focused on preventing Gender-Based Violence and improving access to Sexual and Reproductive Health services. #SRHR #AdvancingHealthRights
The outreach combined education, dialogue, entertainment, HIV testing, family planning services, and distribution of essential items including condoms, menstrual pads, umbrellas, and T-shirts.
Singer Eric Senderi also entertained and energized the crowd while sharing awareness messages on preventing #GBV and promoting healthy behaviours. #AdvancingHealthRights
At HDI, we believe meaningful youth engagement starts with access to information, services, and opportunities.
We are glad to have connected with students and emerging professionals passionate about advancing health, rights, and community wellbeing through innovative and people-centered solutions.
#HealthX2026 #SRHR #YouthInHealth #AdvancingHealthRights
Today, we joined students, innovators, and health sector partners at #HealthX2026 hosted at African Leadership University @alueducation to explore the future of health employment, innovation, and youth engagement in Africa’s evolving health ecosystem.
Through our booth, we engaged young people on #SRHR, access to services, and pathways to meaningful community impact. #AdvancingHealthRights
The event created space for important conversations on health workforce challenges, innovation, and the experiences of young professionals already contributing to stronger health systems across Africa.
From keynote discussions to fireside chats, participants explored how young people can shape the future of primary health care. #AdvancingHealthRights
We @urphsa extends sincere appreciation to @HDIRwanda and partners for organizing a meaningful discussion focused on adolescent and youth access to accurate #SRHR information and services.
Empowering young people with the right knowledge is a key step toward building healthier, informed, and resilient communities.
Conversations like these play a vital role in addressing misinformation and strengthening youth-friendly health services across Rwanda.
We commend all speakers and organizers for their dedication to advancing public health and youth wellbeing.
Together, we can create a future where every young person is informed, empowered, and supported.
