I am conducting an online survey entitled “Consulting the Autistic Community about Music Therapy” as the first stage of my PhD research. The survey is open to all autistic people over the age of 18 (diagnosed or self-diagnosed / self-identified). Links below.
@KatyMontgomerie In Liverpool where I grew up we'd generally use it to mean "boyfriend / husband / male partner" - e.g. "is that your fella?". No particular tone to it, just a word, but only really used as a gendered word for people perceived to be male.

@DrMBotha Yes, can relate to this. Have to read at least twice on separate occasions before I can bring myself to the "they might have a point.." position!
@LisaQuadt@BendyBrain@AutisticDoctor Thanks for your reply. I think being neurodivergent yourself and being an ally are two different things, although being neurodivergent myself I do appreciate that some people have reasons for not wanting to be completely open about their specific identity.
I have been involved in organising this BAMT event, where disabled music therapists including myself will speak about our experiences of being a disabled or chronically ill music therapist in the UK. There'll also be a chance for questions and discussion. Please come along!
