Should nurses be asked to pay for tea and coffee on shift?
A decision by one NHS trust to end free tea, coffee and milk for all staff except those working in theatres has sparked debate.
Here’s what our nurse readers think > https://t.co/9pTBVfBe08
@NurseStandard How is that going to work when currently Trusts are having consultations with staff and some staff worried they will lose their job or be made to work where they don’t want too. Surely that fails staff retention straight away
@NurseStandard I've come across non-essential posts in trusts where, for instance, a retiring Band 7 nurse was offered a post without advertising it, and their band remained unchanged. This band 7 has to check staff if audit is being done or doing bits and pieces. No clarity what role is this?
@NurseStandard I have heard of newly qualified students being told to not apply for their pin when they qualify so that they can then work on bank as a grade 2, if they have their pin they can’t. No jobs advertised for newly qualified nurses
@NHSLancsCC I had surgery on Friday at Chorley under Mr Wain and his plastics team, I can’t thank them enough. The whole team in the day surgery unit to the team in theatre were brilliant, the service was first class
Still a lot of people arriving tonight with non-Emergency conditions. This only delays treatments for those who really need us. Please keep us free for Emergencies only. Thank you.
‼️ We are incredibly pressured currently. Please keep us free for emergencies only. If not an urgent or emergency issue, you will have a long wait. Other services may be more appropriate. Please share. Thank you.‼️

We’re already over capacity and extremely busy. Not everything needs to be seen by us, and may be seen a lot quicker elsewhere. Not sure?….check here….
