Tinubu's Speech Must Be Tested Against Independence Day Promises — Kila
The speech was eloquent, well-written, and full of optimism. However, we should neither accept it merely for its optimism nor reject it simply because we are in opposition. It is a speech that must be tested against what the President said on Independence Day. He has set a clear benchmark for his own administration. The President now agrees with some of us that growth cannot be measured by GDP figures or IMF reports alone. He has shifted from justification to accountability.

FME RELEASES FINAL 2026–2028 RANKED AND APPROVED TEXTBOOKS
QR-based ranking codes introduced to strengthen accountability; second phase to cover four additional class levels
The Federal Ministry of Education has released the final list of Ranked and Approved Textbooks for use in Nigerian schools for the 2026–2028 period, following the completion of the first phase of the national textbook ranking exercise.
The approved list covers textbooks for Primary 1, Primary 4, Junior Secondary School 1 (JSS 1) and Senior Secondary School 1 (SS 1). Each approved title carries a unique Ranking/QR Tracking Code, alongside key details including the title, author(s), publisher and year of publication, to facilitate identification, monitoring and accountability.
The exercise was conducted under the guidance and leadership of the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, and the Honourable Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, with the final list approved by the Honourable Minister of Education.
The introduction of the Ranking/QR Tracking Code represents an important step towards strengthening the monitoring and control of approved instructional materials and ensuring greater transparency in their selection, procurement and utilisation.
The Ministry noted that the additional process of generating and assigning unique codes to each ranked textbook contributed to the time required to complete and validate the final lists.
The ranking exercise is being implemented in phases. Following the completion and approval of the first phase, preparations will commence for the second round, covering textbooks for Primary 2, Primary 5, JSS 2 and SS 2. The same identification and tracking measures will apply to the subsequent phase.
The Federal Ministry of Education urges publishers, schools, education authorities, procurement agencies and other relevant stakeholders to consult the official approved list when selecting and procuring textbooks for the affected classes.
The exercise forms part of the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring that learners and teachers have access to quality, relevant and curriculum-aligned instructional materials, while strengthening transparency and accountability in textbook provision across Nigerian schools.
The complete 2026–2028 Ranked and Approved Textbooks, including the Ranking/QR Tracking Code for each approved title, is available through the link below:

PRESIDENT TINUBU CONGRATULATES DAMILOLA OSIKOYA, NORA AWOLOWO ON GUINNESS WORLD RECORD
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian filmmakers Damilola Osikoya of Switch Visual Production and Nora Awolowo of Rixel Studios on achieving the Guinness World Record for the largest attendance at a film screening. The record was achieved with the screening of Black Market in Lagos on September 26, 2026.
The statement by the Special Adviser to the President, information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga says President Tinubu celebrates the filmmakers for their creativity, enterprise and ambition, describing the achievement as further evidence of the extraordinary talent driving Nigeria’s creative industry.
The statement notes that the Nigeria’s creative economy is building businesses, creating jobs and opening new markets for Nigerian talent, while film, music, fashion and art continue to take the country’s stories and culture to audiences worldwide.
It adds that the achievement of Black Market demonstrates what is possible when Nigerian creativity is matched with enterprise and scale, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to creating more opportunities for young Nigerians to build livelihoods and globally competitive businesses from their talents.
President Tinubu commends everyone involved in Black Market and wishes the team greater success.
"The fact is that President Tinubu has done enough good for this country, from the reforms and all the activities, to get re-elected. Look at all the bye-elections that have been held; APC won every one of them. Even in Kano, the home base of Kwankwaso, APC won those elections."

Many aren't even aware that under the hostile-to-opposition government of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was charged with operating multiple foreign bank accounts while he was Lagos Governor and failed to disclose in his declaration of assets form.
He appeared at every court session, he was harrased and they sought to publicly embarrass him but guess what ? HE WON
In the clip are other Nigerians like his son Seyi Tinubu, Fashola, Osinbajo, Aregbesola, and more.
BREAKING: Workers cheered as the Yoho Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) platform in OML 104 resumed operations, boosting Nigeria’s crude output by an estimated 20,000–25,000 barrels per day.
August production: 1,677,777 barrels per day of crude oil and condensate, up 0.4% from July. Nigeria remained within its OPEC quota.
THIS IS A MAJOR GAIN!
PRESIDENT TINUBU TILL 2031!
Marwa handed Tinubu about ₦2bn in 1999.
Tinubu handed Fashola about ₦27bn in 2007.
Lagos also realised more than ₦19bn from its investment in Celtel.
Yet you hardly hear Tinubu jumping around, shouting about how much money he left for Lagos.
I know some people will doubt this because, for some of you, this may be the first time you’re hearing or seeing it.
But don’t take my word for it.
Fact-check it yourself before you comment.
The same Tinubu met Nigeria with net foreign exchange reserves of about $3.99bn at the end of 2023. By July 2026, the CBN Governor reported net reserves of about $40bn.
Again, don’t take my word for it. Go and verify.
Now, let me make something very clear.
If you want to hate or dislike Tinubu, there are valid issues you can point to. The same applies to every other presidential candidate.
Those who support Atiku can give reasons they believe justify their support. Those who support Obi can do the same. Those who support any other candidate can also give their reasons.
And those who don’t support them can equally have reasons for their position.
For me, Tinubu is my candidate.
And honestly, my love for Tinubu goes beyond him being a politician or even being the President of my country.
I love too many things about him.
I love his political journey.
I love his ambition.
I love his ability to think long-term.
I love the vision I believe he has for Nigeria.
I love the fact that he is willing to make difficult decisions even when those decisions are unpopular.
That doesn’t mean I believe Tinubu is perfect.
It doesn’t mean I will defend everything he does.
And it certainly doesn’t mean everybody has to love him because I do.
But I have my reasons for loving and supporting him, just as others have their reasons for supporting the people they support.
At the end of the day, it takes an optimistic person to look beyond the weaknesses of others and still recognise their strengths.
Tinubu is my candidate. I love him, and I make no apology for that.

President Tinubu is hale and hearty.
By Bayo Onanuga [@aonanuga1956]
Nigeria’s President is hale and hearty. He has been on a working vacation, which he is perfectly entitled to. In this digital age, he does not need to be physically present in Abuja to do the work for which he was elected in 2023.
And we have seen that he has indeed been working, meeting investors in France, most recently facilitating a $7 billion deep-sea port in Ogun Waterside, an initiative of the Ogun State Government.
Two other important African leaders were not in New York for the UNGA: South Africa's President Cyril Ramaphosa and Egypt’s Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. Ramaphosa booked himself off public engagements. Johannesburg and Pretoria made no uproar over Ramaphosa's absence at UNGA. And Egypt did not erupt that Sisi did not go to New York. The Nigerian President announced he was taking his annual vacation and delegated attendance to his able and dependable Vice President.
Yet Peter Obi pretends to be unaware of President Tinubu’s whereabouts and asks the puerile question his followers are asking on X.
President Tinubu will return home this week to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary and honour MKO Abiola, the martyr of the democracy we enjoy today, by attending the premiere of a movie in MKO’s memory in Lagos.
