FIVE GB News shows have breached @Ofcom regulation
"We are clear that GB News is put on notice that any repeated breaches of Rules 5.1 and 5.3 may result in the imposition of a statutory sanction".
Two episodes of Jacob Rees-Mogg’s State of the Nation, two episodes of Friday Morning with Esther and Phil, and one episode of Saturday Morning with Esther and Phil, broadcast during May and June 2023, failed to comply with Rules 5.1 and 5.3 of the Broadcasting Code.
Important about the SEZs few in media even discuss @LBC ⏬️
I believe they will be the worst legacy of these Tory years.....tax havens on mainland Britain with special powers for compulsory purchase and reduction of employment and other laws.
Wild. West. Tory style 😡⏬️
Yours and Mark Drakeford's futures are golden, but millions of low to middle-income earners' futures hang in the balance, why? Because both of you signed off on Sunak's 12 Freeports and 74 SEZs with co-signatory Shanker Singham, the brains behind Brexit. You and Drakeford both knew of the negative consequences deregulated SEZs and Freeports have on local communities, and struggling councils on the brink of total bankruptcy, yet you went ahead with this Tory initiative by being active participatory members on the Govt's Freeports consortia in England, Scotland, and Wales. You should have opposed but you didn't, instead, you agreed to jeopardizing and distorting markets in a WTO-ruled unlevel playing field, fuelled by State Aid given to companies of the Govt's choice, which is totally illegal in the EU meaning any future accession to the EU is effectively sabotaged. Do the people of the UK know that Freeports and SEZs are tax-exempt for 10 years? How does that help regions 'level up' exactly? You have also encouraged job displacement whereby people seeking work in these zones up sticks leaving one failed town or city for one that is not sustainable in the long term due to insufficient funding, you have agreed to set up the UK to fail with boom-and-bust tactics in privately run zones of exception to the host country.
Everybody, this is what Labour means by 'making Brexit work', WTO State Aid (public money) equates to bungs for corporations to pool their resources and liquidate local communities while profiting from their demise. It stinks.

Southern Salads Ltd ceases trading thanks to Brexit.
Southern Salads Ltd, a Tonbridge-based supplier of fresh salads to the UK's supermarkets, restaurants, and travel chains, has ceased trading, affecting approximately 260 employees.
The company, producing over 50 tons of salad daily, encountered significant cashflow difficulties following the EU referendum.
Despite a £30 mln turnover in 2016 and investment in production expansion in 2014, the anticipated growth did not materialise, exacerbating financial strain.
The depreciation of sterling post-Brexit unexpectedly impacted the company's purchasing power by 10% to 20% for imported salads, essential for winter and early spring supply in the UK. The firm's currency hedging strategies offered insufficient protection, leading to increased cashflow pressures.
Efforts to renegotiate pricing with European suppliers or to pass costs onto customers were unsuccessful. Southern Salads sourced its produce from across Europe, including the Netherlands, Poland, France, Italy, and Spain.

NEWS
@ofcom announces Dan Wooton's show containing Laurence Fox misogynistic comments about Ava Evans broke broadcasting rules.
"GB News show broke broadcasting rules which protect viewers from offensive content"
I'm losing track of the number of times GB News has broken Ofcom rules now, any clues?
To anyone who’s saying that politicians cannot spend money on public services because we don’t have it;
The NHS was built in the aftermath of the Second World War, when the country was completely broke.
Restricting spending on public services is a political choice.
2 years ago, @Repsol was responsible for the worst environmental disaster in Peru -- and won't clean up its mess. But we can change that. Sign this petition now https://t.co/viIQ01h3Lb

🔹Chair of OBR - Office of Budget Responsibility re Tory Govt Economic Forecast
"TO CALL THIS FICTION IS GENEROUS"
🔹“Beyond March 2025 the govt has told us virtually nothing....TO CALL THIS FICTION IS GENEROUS.
Someone has bothered to write fiction. WHEREAS THE GOVT HASN'T EVEN BEEN BOTHERED to write down what its department spending plans are underpinning public services."
Jeremy Hunt & Tories just gaslighting all the way
Tories robbing us blind, hidden behind their friendly media 😡
NEW: Jeremy Hunt’s constituents are so concerned about the NHS and Cost of Living that if an election was held today, he would lose his seat.

@LansleyA @carolvorders@Conservatives@NewStatesman@willydunn I'd go further: Upper House to be elected representatives who have had NO business or party affiliations for at least 5 years and who are UK resident.
BREAKING
🔹Lord John Nash, put into the House of Lords by David Cameron. He and his wife have donated £800,000+ to the @conservatives party. Follow @newstatesman@willydunn as they report
🔹BUSINESSES in which Nash has a declared interest have RECEIVED PUBLIC SECTOR CONTRACTS of £3.8 BILLION in 8 years.
🔹Softcat, in which he holds shares valued at £88 million has received public sector contracts of £2.97 BILLION.
🔹Dividends on Softcat 2023 profits alone would have earned him £2.2 million.
🔹Many of the contracts are with the NHS.
🔹Companies in which Nash is an investor have also received grants of public money
🔹4 companies in which Nash has declared a financial interest were also the recipients of government loans from the Future Fund.
🔹Sorted Holdings, of which Nash was a shareholder until July 2023, received an £11.6m loan from the Future Fund and co-investors in 2021.
🔹As a life peer, Nash also has the opportunity to vote on how the government procures goods and services from companies.
🔹He has voted on amendments to the Procurement Bill SEVEN TIMES in the past 18 months.
🔹Margaret Hodge, the Labour MP, former chair of the Public Accounts Committee and member of the UK Governance Commission, said it was “completely inappropriate that an individual with political power and influence should be placing himself in a position to be accused of a conflict of interest at this scale”.
🔹Hodge added that for a peer and former minister to receive millions of pounds from companies that profit from state spending “simply adds to the public’s view that everybody in politics is only in it for themselves”.
There is no suggestion of any wrongdoing by Nash or any of the companies to which he is connected.

Water companies have dumped BILLIONS OF LITRES of raw sewage into our rivers and seas. Banning their bonuses isn’t enough. Tell political leaders: fine them in shares, then renationalise water companies who don’t clean up their act. https://t.co/jgjDRzUT8F
HMRC hasn’t charged a SINGLE company over tax evasion, yet they’re going after ordinary people earning a little extra money from selling their second-hand clothes online. @Jeremy_Hunt: stop billionaires from avoiding tax through legal schemes. https://t.co/HNENyNk6sV
