Felony charges have been filed against an Oak Park woman who allegedly defrauded the state out of more than $30,000 in childcare assistance funds by claiming her father was taking care of her children when he was actually living in a long-term care facility.

We are committed to ensure programs allowing people with disabilities to continue to live in their homes are safeguarded from fraud & abuse. To that end, OIG investigations led to 6 recent indictments for Vendor Fraud, Theft & Forgery. All presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Natasha Thorpe pled guilty to recipient fraud after failing to report her husband’s employment. She received 24 months of probation, $2,024 in fines, and must repay $48,047. Kudos OIG investigators whose diligent work helped protect IL tax dollars and uphold program integrity.
Melvin Brooks pled guilty to Class 1 Vendor Fraud.
*Submitted false timesheets while working another job
*Over $57K in improper Medicaid payments
*Received 4 years’ felony probation and must pay restitution
Kudos to OIG investigators for their work leading to this MFCU referral.
Grand Jury indicted Abanob George for alleged falsified transportation mileage reimbursement reports. Charges: Managed Health Care Fraud and two counts of Theft. Investigated by HFS OIG; referred to IL AG. Charges are allegations; Defendant presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Antonio Clay, former owner of Clay Transportation, pled guilty to Medicaid vendor fraud.
· Filed false transportation claims from 2018–2022
· Received over $179K for services not provided
· Repaid $40K to date
· Sentencing July 2
· HFS OIG referred case to the IL AG’s Office
