After a hiatus from the legacy of the pandemic - HGS returns to the field in the summer of 2026. Departing for Buton and Hoga in Indonesia with @opwall for our 7th expedition.

HGS is in the early stages of planning our next expedition - Madagascar 2026. All information will be shared via the school google system - however the archive of this twitter feed is a good place to read about experiences of students who have been on previous expeditions.

Off the M1 at luton - eta remains just before 2PM

Cleared the airport - about to board a coach for Hitchin. Will update further when ETA is clearer. When we arrive we will need to offload the bags from the coach (which will likely park outside the HGS gates) so please wait on the school grounds for the students to meet you there

Emigration cleared - first flight is delayed by an hour

Journeys end for today - back at the hotel Gran Pedro Sula - tomorrow it’s back to the skies.

All aboard the early morning ferry - headed back to the mainland.

One final night on Roatan before we head for home - departure 5.30AM for the ferry port.

My daughter is with @opwall in Roatan at the moment learning all about reef ecology and diving with turtles and fish to help their research (and trying to avoid the jellyfish!)

The final day of the expedition - surveying the beach for micro-plastics, final qualifying dives for those training and yet more #turtles!
