Ethan Morton hitting the transfer portal so he can use his Covid year and play basketball next year when we are already out of scholarships at Purdue is a great move for him. I truly hope he gets the minutes he deserves next year wherever he lands... just hope they don’t play Purdue because I don’t want to ever have to root against him.

He’s been a tremendous leader on this team even if the box score didn’t show it this year. He’s sacrificed a lot for team success and will forever be a hero in my book.

A fun anecdote from Monday night in Phoenix: that night, there was a JPC afterparty, which was notably less charged than it would have been if the game had ended differently, but it was going to happen anyway to celebrate the season, making it to the Final Four, etc.. Still, it was nice to see some players and families make an appearance there where we could thank them for everything and tell them how much we appreciated them trusting Purdue as the school for their sons to go to.

Others preferred to keep a lower profile, as was their perfect right to do. The team had the entire 2nd floor with all its meeting rooms reserved for their exclusive use for film study, team meals, etc., so some of them went there to celebrate/commiserate in their own private way. Nothing at all wrong with that — just sharing for context.

Anyway, after Jo and I decided to call it a night and go pack for the early morning departure, we were walking through the hotel lobby, where we saw Caleb Furst, couple bottles of wine in hand (he’s classy), with Ethan Morton and some of their friends.
Caleb called out: “Morty! How are we getting upstairs?”
Ethan deadpanned: “the stairs.” 😂🤣😂

Thank you for everything, @ethanmorton25 🫡
