A copy of the letter that has been emailed to Governor Cuomo’s office today.
If full contact sports are allowed to begin practices starting February 1, then our performing arts programs should not be stuck in the proverbial locker room at 12 feet apart.
@OfficialNYSSMA
Thank you for your advocacy Pam, thousands upon thousands of NYS students have restricted or zero access to the performing arts right now b/c of the 12' ruling.
Singing/Playing can be done safely at 6' with masks.
@OfficialNYSSMA @NYGovCuomo
Thrilled that @NYGovCuomo has given the go ahead for @NYSPHSAA high-risk sports to begin effective February 1. Let’s Go Baby!
Sounds about time for him to turn his attention to our performing arts programs that are stuck at 12ft apart!

If we allowed children to learn how children learn, maybe it would be a more joyous & impactful endeavor for all involved.
Children love and learn through free play, physical activity, recess, Arts, music, and movement.
The NYS rule on Music Performance in Schools right now is not ok. Students in the performing arts are being unfairly restricted. Participation can SAFELY take place at 6’ with performance masks. Children must be allowed to sing in class. @NYGovCuomo @OfficialNYSSMA @NFHS_Org
ATTENTION: tonight’s Pasta Dinner at The Main Place has been POSTPONED! This even will be rescheduled for a future date and time.
Thank you for understanding. 😍🍝
I really don’t like the term “specials” to describe music, art, dance, theatre, library, etc. in school. These subjects feed our humanity. They should be considered nourishment for our humanity. Stop making them “special” & make them essential. #artsed#arts#musiced
Great tweets announcing your students accepted to #NYAllState2020. They're a part of our history! The decision to cancel the live all state conference has happened only twice - during WWII in 1943, 44 & 45; & during a 1991 ice storm in the Catskills where the conference was held!
