Saying women can't choose to have abortions unless they're raped is telling them they don't earn autonomy over their own bodies until a man violates it.
Depo Povera was denied FDA approval bc animal studies showed elevated risks of breast cancer & birth defects. Despite this, Depo Povera was tested in humans, mainly low income Black women, w/out their consent. After this, Pfizer heavily marketed the shot in low income areas.
The world needs NEEDS feminism, the world desperately needs more feminists in positions of power; to create laws that protect women and girls in vulnerable positions, more importantly to safeguard existing laws that protect women and girls against those who'd have them overturned
Severe menstrual cramping - if they knew what they were doing they would have checked you out for endometriosis and treated you for it. Instead they made you sicker. There needs to be more training for reproductive health conditions.
Hi. I'm one of the Black women with a tumor from this. ✋🏾
7yrs ago they prescribed it for severe menstrual cramping. I wasn't planning for children and I wanted the pain to stop, so I took it every 3 months. Tumor is benign, but it's given me other *inconvenient* issues.
In case you haven’t heard:
Women are suing Pfizer in a class action lawsuit because the birth control shots (Depo-Provera) have been found to cause brain tumors.
1 in 4 women use this birth control. And Black women are prescribed it at double the national rate.
It’s me again, if you “sadness” always intensifies few weeks or days to your period, if you struggle to do basic tasks like brush your teeth, get up from bed or even hangout with friends.
It is not normal, PMDD is under diagnosed and most women attempt suicide…
By the way, girlies, here are 5 things you need to know about your period 👇🏽
1. Pain that makes you faint isn’t normal.
If your period pain makes it hard to stand, work, or even talk, that’s not “just how it is.” It could be endometriosis or another condition that needs medical attention. Please get it checked. 🫂
2. Cycle length isn’t one-size-fits-all.
Not everyone has a 28-day cycle. Anything between 21–35 days can be normal, if your cycle is consistent for you. You can track your period and patterns with Fertitude’s period tracker for free. 💜
3. Birth control (pills) doesn’t “fix” your period.
It can help regulate or reduce symptoms, but it doesn’t treat the root cause of things like irregular periods or hormonal imbalances.
4. Your cervical mucus tells you more than you think.
It changes through your cycle and can show when you’re ovulating, stressed, or experiencing hormonal shifts. Learn your body’s pattern.
5. Tracking your cycle helps you spot patterns early.
From mood swings to cramps, tracking helps you connect the dots and talk to your doctor with clarity. Please track your cycle today. 🫶🏻
Oh, and one more.
It’s okay to talk about your periods. It’s not shameful, and research shows that open conversations help us move away from stigma. Many of us now understand our bodies better because someone else spoke up first. 🥹👏🏻
Your period isn’t taboo.
Your period isn’t something to hide. It’s something to understand.

No.
We’ve normalized silence around periods, and it’s costing girls their education.
Tomorrow at 9am, my short documentary “When Periods Keep Girls Out of School” will air on YouTube. Shame doesn’t live here 🫵🏽

Started my period few days ago, stained my bed sheet, I got mad at myself because I literally just changed my sheet!!! Then I changed it, guess what I did that same night? Yeah I stained it again 😔
I still don't understand why it can't just show up for 5 minutes to say, "Hey, you aren't pregnant. Congratulations!" and fuck off. Why it gotta be 5 days, whyyyyyyy??
While we are here, let's demistify periods, shall we?
Very heavy periods may indicate fibroids.
No periods? Could be PCOS.
VERY painful periods? Check for endometriosis.
Spotting between periods? Could be fibroids.
Hope this helps!
