I am a 40 y/o HIV-positive woman. My children are all adults now. I have a successful career and I know I am able and worthy to live a full and meaningful life.

I am divorced after 14 of marriage. I now realize I was a hostage to his abuse and it was not safe for me to leave until the kids were grown

I am worthy of not being yelled at for 2 and 3 hours at a time, everything from a couple times per week to a couple time per day.

Thinking I had to date an HIV-pos man because I was HIV-positive. I thought the pool of men was too small, either former addicts or gay.

I am also realizing it takes a strong and logical man to be with an HIV-positive woman. Those quality men do absolutley exist.

I am an attractive, educated, sweet, giving person, who has a great career. I am worthy of love, regardless of my HIV status.

I believed for too many years, nobody would want me because I felt I was untouchable because I had HIV. I not realize this is not the case.

I no longer need to stay and I have gained the self worth and confidence I needed to leave.

I have kept it a secret all of this time, not letting anyone into our lives who may have found out what was happenning.

The children are now all over 19 and there was no longer reason for me to stay in a marriage that is so damaging.

Life changes have happenned. After 14 years in an emotionally and pyschologically abusive marriage, I have finally left.

I tell you this only to encourage you to never give up hope. I spent too many years living with HIV with a negative mindset.

I started a professional career two years ago. I have achieved the exceptional performance award for both years. I can live a full life...
