Two men killed on a smart motorway would be alive today if the hard shoulder on the M1 had not been scrapped, according to a coroner. Derek Jacobs, 83, and Charles Scripps, 78, died in a three-car crash. Reinstate the hard shoulder on all motorways. End this shameful experiment.
