@bykatewomersley@JamesTCobbler That’s so impressive. Let me know how you find the perinatal mental health book. I’d love to know what it’s like. Maybe a resource to recommend to my patients?
@bykatewomersley @hazard_leah @suzypuss@chrisha_jay Thanks, Kate. I’m always very happy to chat about everything and anything related to women’s mental health, especially perinatal. I’m not on here much these days, but do get in touch.
@Rebecca99LT I’m pretty sure that the first time I met you when I was a CT, you’d just finished clerking a patient. It really impressed me, meeting a consultant who wasn’t above getting stuck in. And you have beautiful handwriting. How we should all be, though my handwriting is terrible!
@CheesemanJane Exactly, a very unhelpful narrative. Bit of a step back. Poor us & our silly vulnerable lady brains. On the other hand, oestrogen modulates serotonin in brain, amongst other things, so important to think about these differences. As usual, it’s not as simple as the headlines say.

Perinatal mental health.
To all health care professionals.
If you see a pregnant woman who is on antidepressant/anti anxiety/antipsychotic medication, DO NOT STOP IT “because they are pregnant”.
Consult your local perinatal MH team or a primary care expert.
@bykatewomersley Don’t know of anything specific, would be amazing. I assess on v limited basis but not where this is the only reason for referral. Too little resource. I flag up to maternity for enhanced birth planning if necessary. My team works with MH midwife & obstetrician which helps.
