@ASPrevOnc#breastcancersurvivors. My comm partner, Veronica Meadows-Ray (center of pic), believed strongly in a genetic etiology for #breastcancer in her family, instigated the study. Aunt Evelyn (left) and Mother Mary (right) are now in heaven, but hopefully are smiling down on our work.
@ASPrevOnc@mgarciaclosas 3/3 These novel loci deserve additional follow-up.
Family studies (even small ones) are still useful, even for complex traits. #geneticepi
Need more data for #replication.
We humbly thank #JewelsInOurGenes families & acknowledge many consortia participants and investigators.
@ASPrevOnc@mgarciaclosas 2/3 In meta-GWAS under peaks, we found a novel chr12 #breastcancer locus that flipped in Eur ancestry; 3 loci on chr3, 12, and 16 for ER-neg. Chr3 SNPs are monoallelic in non-Africans; have reg function. Chr 12 and 16 genes implicated in other cancer types.

A thread about having my #COVID19 test and serology today (all in 1) from blood in ~15 minutes. Picture of my sample which put on a dedicated chip and optically analyzed for coronavirus proteins and antibodies vs controls 1/x
@osteoporosisNI The difference was small, but this work is a first step, and if replicated can lead to more studies on whether/how sleep is related to bone remodeling. Recommendations to (all) patients for 7+ hours cant hurt!
