“Letter to families from Dir. General of Prisons. Main headlines : due to cases rising in prisons, no lifting of all restrictions on Jul 19, successful vaccine role out reduces the risk of returning to more restrictions
Very valuable visit to HMP Belmarsh today. Good to meet staff and prisoners, and hear how lessons from COVID are being learned to create better, safer prison regimes #hmpps
COVID vaccinations are now being offered to all prisoners. We encourage all to take up the offer. As well as the obvious health benefits ,it will help in accelerating the lifting of restrictions such as limited visitor numbers and the wearing of face masks
We are now running a limited visits schedule. Visits are also happening differently to normal, by observing strict guidelines : https://t.co/DO6CIj3PIG You can telephone our visits booking line on 020 8331 4760 (Monday To Friday 9:30am to 3pm)
Since Dec, Belmarsh residents and staff have been donating food items to local charities.Given the minimal funds available to residents it is amazing to see how many have donated. This was from an idea from a resident who wanted to help the wider community.
