Our brain and nervous system is the primary control center of all movements. Regulating muscle tension, mobility, power, coordination, etc. Therefore, to improve any of those areas requires retraining your brain which in turn will support tissue adaptations.
If you are doing any drastic fitness/nutrition change because itโs New Year, ask yourself if itโs sustainable for you long-term. If yes, keep going and be consistent. If no, scale it back, reassess, or work up to that gradually. #trusttheprocess
National Athletic Trainer Day isn't until March 1, but last night was an important reminder to applaud ATCs and other medical professionals every day. They work long hours and prepare meticulously over an entire career to be ready for a moment like that. We appreciate you all.๐
Be proactive with your health, not reactive. Prioritize nutrient dense foods that you enjoy. Donโt solely rely on medications, supplements, cleanses, fads that are trying to โfixโ something thatโs a product of over consuming junk food.
Neuroplasticity is the ability of your brain to adapt, change, and rewire itself in response to all stimuli and experiences. This can happen both in a positive or negative way with training. Reevaluate your training and avoid detrimental stimuli.
You may have the best coaches, training program/equipment, etc. However, your focus, intent, attitude, work ethic will determine how much benefit you gain from the resources around you. Donโt take for granted what you have and put your full effort into working to improve.
This would be like if you canโt feel that water is hot, well letโs just make it scalding hot and then youโll probably feel it. Thatโs not the best approach. More magnitude is not always better when it comes addressing to nervous system dysfunction.
With poor neuromuscular function, people typically cannot feel muscles working when they SHOULD be working. In my opinion, the biggest mistake you can make is throwing more resistance at them to make them โwork more.โ
