The conference was also addressed by DG (Roads) Shri S.K. Nirmal, NHAI Chairperson Smt Alka Upadhyay, JS (Logistics) MoRTH Shri S.P. Singh, Chairperson HOAI Dr Harikishan Reddy and other senior officials and experts.

Secretary MORTH Shri Giridhar Aramane underlined the need to treat National Highways as economic assets and to ensure that these are maintained properly. He also spoke about using high performance technology in construction.

Minister of State MoRTH & Civil Aviation @Gen_VKSingh called upon the highway operators to use technology in order to cut down construction cost, improve quality of road, while taking care of the environment.

Ravin Mirchandani, Chairman, Ador Powertron highlighted the importance of how technology can save lives on the road and that we should have a sensitive attitude towards road users in order to provide a safe road experience.

"We need a systematic approach because the rate of fatalities is higher. And major causal factors for fatalities are number plate violations, poor and risky behaviour while driving like alcohol consumption, using mobile phones, taking selfies, etc." - Ravin Mirchandani

Not only did Mr. Sabato Falcone addressed issues about GPS Tolling, but he also proposed solutions as well. Solutions like central system infrastructure, roadside infrastructure, vehicle end infrastructure, bank & payment infrastructure, road concessionaires and traffic police.

Mr. Sabato Falcone, Team Lead, Egis 7 Pro focused on GPS tolling. He said that not only technology but geography too is a very important point to keep in mind.

Mr. Sabato Falcone addressed FASTag challenges like traffic jams on toll plazas, excessive pollution, fuel consumption, wasted time in queues, unfair charging, high cost of operation of #FASTag, insufficient transparency of toll collection and loss of part of the revenue.

"Next logical step includes effective & reliable ANPR system, alternate thoughts on management of hot list tags, abolishing multiple active tags under one VRN, integrating overload tolling and diversifying FASTag use cases." - Mr. Muraleemohan M

Mr. Muraleemohan M, COO of Maple Infra addressed innovation in backend operation. He said that every vehicle which uses the asset must pay toll and that the usage of tolling technology to ensure the same is a must.

Mr. Nilesh Gupta, Head of NETC, focused on the current status and future road map of tolling in India. He mentioned the essentials of smart tolling technology like vehicle identification, vehicle classification, transaction processing, violation processing and connectivity.

Mr. Nilesh Gupta focused on the need for connected vehicle payments in the future like drive - thru restaurants, fuel payments and other services related to the vehicles.
