I’m a girl dad deeply invested in women’s sports. I created this channel with hopes that not just my daughters but other girls can look up to these women
The #Cowboys needed secondary help, so Dallas added Alex Austin and Tyrek Funderburk to the practice squad.
Fair move. Get bodies in the building.
But here’s my question:
What exactly do they do better than Josh Butler?
Butler was already here. He knew the system, the terminology, the coaches, the personnel, and he had already produced when Dallas needed him.
In 2024, Butler played 5 games, started 3 and recorded:
21 tackles
5 PBUs
1 sack
In coverage, he allowed 15 completions on 22 targets for 222 yards and 1 TD.
Now compare that with Funderburk’s 2024 NFL sample:
16 targets
15 completions allowed
201 yards
2 TDs
158.3 passer rating allowed
That doesn’t automatically mean Butler is better, but it also doesn’t prove Funderburk is an upgrade.
Alex Austin has the stronger argument.
He has more NFL experience, more defensive snaps, more special teams experience, better length and more career ball production.
So I can understand what Dallas may see there.
But even Austin’s recent coverage numbers were rough.
That’s why I keep coming back to the same question:
If Josh Butler already knew the defense and had shown he could contribute, what did Dallas see in training camp that made him expendable?
And what are Austin and Funderburk giving you now that Butler couldn’t?
I’m not saying Josh Butler is an All-Pro.
I’m asking for the football explanation.
Because based on the evidence we have, it is not obvious that Dallas replaced him with clearly better cornerbacks.
Sometimes fans say:
“How do we know more than the coaches?”
We don’t.
But we can evaluate the results.
And when you spend all offseason evaluating your own players, cut one who knows the system, then start looking outside the building for help at the same position a month later…
It is fair to question the evaluation process.

Giving up a second round pick for players you don't want to pay upon arrival while Pickens is playing on that tag... yall gotta win the chip this year 😂
Why do y’all even care what he says!! Y’all give him too much credit and clout!! With engaging with him every single day! Nobody gives a fuck what he says respectfully
@MrSelfMade80 U right my guy. For me it isn’t about engagement it’s more about the stupid shit he spews from his jibs it’s quite comical to be honest. lol
#DallasCowboys LB Jaishawn Barham on the impact S Caleb Downs and he have had so far as Rookies: “I don’t really look at myself as, ‘Oh, he’s a rookie, so he’s doing this.’ I think Caleb might feel the same way. We just came in and played football. This is what we’ve been doing forever.” — via @jonmachota

I’m having football centric sleep paralysis because what do you mean Jerry said “I’ll be damned if that window ain’t gonna close”
He went shopping but it wasn’t a panic purchase to erase the :07 stink from Rio.
He said F them picks (but not a 1st) and all those contracts I’ve got coming up … I’m pushing now.
He’s determined to change our “same old Jerry” narrative. I’m entertained!
