there’s a scam currently going around on twitter and other platforms where someone will DM you claiming they “accidentally reported” your account for fraud, illegal purchases, scamming or other violations. they’ll act panicked, send fake screenshots and then direct you to a supposed “discord employee,” “admin,” or “support staff” account.

that account is a scammer impersonating discord staff.

their goal is to gain access to your twitter, discord, email or other linked accounts by convincing you to hand over personal information, verification codes, login details or by making you change your account email to one they control. once they gain access, they use your account to continue targeting more victims (specifically your followers since they’re likely to believe a follower of them).

for clarity:
• discord/twitter staff do not handle reports through random DMs.
• legitimate support will not ask for your password, verification codes or account credentials.
• legitimate staff will not ask you to transfer ownership of your account or change your email for “verification”.

if you receive one of these messages, do not engage, do not provide any information and report/block all accounts involved.
