Battle of the Books is this afternoon and we’re really looking forward to it! Let’s see how well those books have been read and how far they were enjoyed! @HighamsParkSch
KS3 students must register for #Battleofthebooks via Firefly by 24th May. Books will be announced and ready for collection after half term. The battle will take place on Thursday 18th July#readingforpleasure
We were very excited to host our first literacy mentor training session today. Students in Year 9 and 12 were gaining an insight into supporting reading development as part of our commitment to enhancing literacy and student leadership opportunities.
6th June marks the 80th anniversary of D Day, a day of monumental allied operations, landing on the beaches of Normandy, France. Not only are there some epic films to enjoy, many stories on this topic have been written for young people. #ddayyoungadultfiction@HPShistory
We’re recruiting Year 9s and Year 12s for next year’s Literacy Mentoring programme. Use the link on Firefly to sign up by 21st June. See Mrs Taylor if you’d like more information. (If you’re joining us as Year 12 in September, we’ll recruit you then) @HPS6th@HighamsParkSch

Years 7 and 8 have been set the task on Firefly to recommend a book to Year 6 students joining us in September. You’ll find a template to produce a short and enthusiastic recommendation. R2 for every submitted recommendation. #Readingforpleasure
Students and staff had a very busy day today celebrating @WorldBookDayUK. From posting a book to gift in school, to Year 7 story in a Day, decorating potatoes and spoons into book characters and hunting the literary pairs - it was a lot of fun.
