CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN WHAT THE INSURANCE IS INSURING.

My friend pays $438 a month.

That’s $5,256 a year.

Then she had to get an MRI.

Bill: $2,900.

Insurance paid part of it.

Her portion:

$1,480.

So she pays over $5,000 a year to avoid paying full price.

Then still gets a bill larger than her rent when she actually needs healthcare.

At this point the insurance card feels less like coverage and more like a membership fee.
