কলকাতায় শপথ গ্রহণ অনুষ্ঠানে শ্রী মাখনলাল সরকার জি-র সঙ্গে দেখা হল। একনিষ্ঠ দেশপ্রেমিক শ্রী সরকার, ডঃ মুখোপাধ্যায়ের সঙ্গে কাজ করেছেন এবং জম্মু ও কাশ্মীরে তাঁর সঙ্গী হিসেবে থাকার সময় গ্রেপ্তারও হয়েছিলেন। পশ্চিমবঙ্গ জুড়ে আমাদের দলের ভিত্তি প্রসারিত করতে এবং সর্বস্তরের মানুষকে দলে যোগ দিতে অনুপ্রাণিত করতে তিনি নিজের জীবন উৎসর্গ করেছেন।

In 1952, Makhanlal Sarkar was arrested in Kashmir while accompanying Syama Prasad Mukherjee during the movement to hoist the Indian tricolour there.
