The late Alhaji Aminu Dantata was a good man. He meant a lot to me, and to many others whose lives he touched in meaningful and lasting ways.

This morning, I travelled to Kano to pay my respects and spend time with his family.

May Almighty Allah (SWT) continue to comfort and strengthen Baba’s loved ones, and grant him a place amongst the righteous in Aljannah Firdaus. Ameen.

He will be dearly missed.

Today, I had the privilege of participating in an important dialogue on the future of tourism in Nigeria—at the National Tourism Summit 2025, held at the beautiful Koko Beach Hotel & Resort in Lagos. It was an honour to join stakeholders from the tourism, finance, and infrastructure sectors — each bringing their unique perspective to the table.

In my remarks, I spoke about the need to build a stronger, more resilient tourism sector; one that connects people not just to destinations, but to opportunity. That means investing in infrastructure and supporting the small businesses and entrepreneurs who are the backbone of this industry.

I salute my dear friend and brother, Mr Richard Shittu and his forward-thinking team, whose audacious vision and tireless execution not only brought this summit to life but, through their pioneering investment in Koko Beach & Resorts, have set a new benchmark for what is possible in Nigerian tourism.

Today, After the Waziri Ngeri of Ilorin, Dr. Bukola Saraki attended Tafsir at the Emir’s palace, he paid a condolence visit to the grand Mukadam of Ilorin, Sheikh Suleiman Dan' Borono, the Mukadam Agba of Ilorin, over the death of his wife Alhaja Hajarat Suleiman Dan' Borono.

Needless to say, that these insinuations did not start today, they have been swelling for a while, but mostly in hushed tone and have just become amplified now.

Even if eventually unproven, these insinuations have largely impeached their credibility and moral integrity to continue to lead that community and whatever they do going forward, would be received with scepticism.

I have been following developments around the NIUK very closely, and I am convinced that there is not just a moral burden on that leadership to step down but to offer sincere apologies to @OgbeniDipo and the rest of us for wasting our time and attempting to muddle the issue.
