Happy 18th birthday Hridaan ❤️
I'm no poet, but sharing one I wrote for you in 2021.. because some things are worth repeating.
Im so proud of the vulnerability you wear so openly, but right behind it-
there exists a second skin… resilient, unshaken.
It's easy to miss.
But I’ve seen it - again and again.
You are a raging fire... behind calm eyes.
You are a yoddha of a different kind.
Not loud, not restless -
but steady, aware and deeply strong.
A kind so rare it often has me bewildered.
A peaceful warrior.
This world needs more of them.
The world will test you. But I already know how you will meet it.
Happy 18th my son. I love you.❤️
Today, India lost a gem.
Asha ji was not only a legend who I had the good fortune of interacting with, but she was also a constant quiet presence in my life, always looking after my best interest, a reassuring and grounding force and the giver of the warmest hugs.
I will miss you deeply Asha ji. Thank you for the priceless memories and your timeless songs. You are and will always be the Queen of Indian playback singing.
My heartfelt condolences to the Bhosle family. Rest in peace Asha ji.
My dear Ray ❤️
As you so eagerly step into adulthood, here’s a gentle reminder of why it's so important to be an adult ! :-
An adult who builds a life strong enough…
Responsible enough..
Steady enough…
Wise enough…
..So that the child in you experiences top notch endless moments of unbridled laughter 🤣
Max moments of pure joy 😍
Smiles of quiet satisfaction 😇
and freedom to keep you flying! 🕺
That’s the job. Nothing more. Nothing less.
So good luck, you adult.
Remember-
The adult steers the boat.
But the child… is the captain.
“O captain, my captain.”
Is better applied here.
Happy 20th birthday Ray ❤️ my son.
Below are examples of what your captain has always looked like.
#love
It feels new. Can you spot the difference?

The captain announces, we take off.
The sweet Angel of Death - dot on time, appears on my left shoulder whistling a tune.
Here we go again.
Its presence is disconcerting, I wish he'd leave, cause I wanna read some humor and think of silly happy things , but we've built such a bond over the years that it would be rude now to suddenly ignore him.
He doesn't say much , always just sits smug and contented, whistles really well.
Always picks an enchanted tune from my childhood, the rascal.
Fine.
I put my book down.
And take another good look at the prophecy of the inevitable oblivion I'm hurtling towards and secretly shudder at its blackness beckoning me. I shut my eyes and quickly compare it to the other blackness that cradled me- the nothingness I emerged from.
I squint
The colourful in-between has at the least been a beautiful wondrous mess-o-mix of strife and love.
My naive heart pounds with unfathomable hope.
Gosh .. so much hope it breaks my heart.
I squint harder , it all seems fair and in order.
Yes. Yes. Fair and in order. Yes.
I look around, aah so many of us in it together.
.
I join in, we whistle together. Rascal and I.
The seatbealt sign turns off.
.
I flip the book.
GOOD OMENS.
Apparently , I packed the right book.
