HR is not about HR – it’s about what value we create from doing #HR. this could be value for the employee, the customer, it could be the manager or it could be the community.

It grows across families, communities, nations.

Starbucks? Are you kidding ?
You’re asking someone whose obsession is to spread the fame of Araku—an Indian coffee—that’s considered one of the best in the world?
And by the way, we’ll be opening America’s first Araku Café in midtown Manhattan by this summer!
You can then count on selfies with an Araku cup in my hand…
Meet Velu.
He and his team have just introduced the world’s first suspension featuring DaVinci damping technology in the new Mahindra XUV 7XO
As you can see, he can’t conceal his excitement to demonstrate it personally.
Velu, or "Velu Guru” as we affectionately call him, started his journey in a government school in Namakkal, TN, before graduating from Anna University with a https://t.co/0A8EOxeLos in Automotive Engineering.
He joined us as a Junior Engineer and rose through the ranks to become Head of Technology & Product Development.
Last year, he was appointed President of our Automotive Business.
There are thousands more at Mahindra Research Valley & in our entire R&D team cast from the same mould.
Homegrown engineers who are:
Hungry to learn
Hungry to lead
Hungry to take on the world’s best.
India is a talent factory.
Which is why, in 1991, when global consultants suggested we "throw in the towel" as the economy opened up and global competitors were expected to write our obituary, we chose not to listen.
We’re still here.
We’re still learning.
And we’re still driven to serve you with world-class technology.
There’s much more to come…
Velu and our Automotive Team are not just my #MondayMotivation but my constant inspiration
The story of Araku Coffee, our very own Indian brand which has gone global, has entered a new and exciting chapter.
For over 25 years, the Naandi Foundation @naandi_india has worked to transform the lives of subsistence farmers in the Araku Valley of Andhra Pradesh, India. By providing regenerative farming inputs and sharing best practices for growing high-quality coffee, they have helped build a sustainable and resilient farming community.
From the very beginning, our ambitious goal was not only to improve farmers’ livelihoods, but also to ensure that their dedication and exceptional coffee were recognised on the global stage.
Naandi globally pioneered the application of the terroir approach, traditionally used in grape cultivation and winemaking, to coffee growing in Araku. Terroir, meaning a “sense of place”expresses the unique character of a region by aligning varieties and farming practices with local soil, microclimates, and landscape.
Recently, Araku Coffee launched the NANOLOT Series, the rarest and purest expression of specialty coffee. Grown on single plots by individual farmers and harvested in exceptionally small quantities, each nanolot is carefully processed and roasted in micro-batches to reveal the purest expression of its terroir.
Priced at ₹10,000 per kg (USD 100 per kg), the NANOLOT Series represents one of the highest price points ever achieved by an Indian Arabica coffee. The first release a fortnight ago sold out online within 24 hours, and the second, last week, in just two hours.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation for all the tireless efforts of the enterprising head of Naandi, @manoj_naandi and for the talent & dedication of the entire team.

Since the Mahindra Armada, our first hard-top SUV, first rolled out, I’ve never driven any other car brand.
(Before the Armada, I had a Hindustan Motors Contessa!)
And although today I use the XEV 9e, the most advanced vehicle Mahindra has ever built, I can honestly say that the car I would STILL choose to personally drive is the Bolero.
Its ruggedness and simplicity make it the ultimate, old-school road warrior.
I self-drove my Bolero, nicknamed the “Black Beast,” extensively before the Scorpio was even launched.
And now, the Beast is back.
The same recognisable silhouette, but reborn in an updated 2025 avatar.
After the Wagon R, it’s the oldest Indian car brand in continuous production, ever since its launch in 2000. Just a month older than the Alto.
Over the years, successive Mahindra Auto teams have debated phasing it out, but it has always refused to say goodbye.
It keeps evolving, adapting, and marching to the beat of its own drum.
The person you will be in 5 years depends on:
• the food you eat
• amount of exercise you do
• how much sleep per day
• books or articles you read
• how much you write
• money you save and invest
• who you work with
• friends you spend time with
• new skills you develop
My career now spans 44 years.
If there’s one enduring thing I’ve learned, it’s that nothing lasts forever.
The tough moments, the pressure, the setbacks, they all pass.
When you’re in the eye of the storm, it can feel like it’ll never end, but it always does.
Stress is only a drain.
Just focus on doing the best you can, staying the course and trusting that the situation will shift.
It always does.
