Every school community is unique and there is no one right way to approach the teaching of PHE in today's learning environment. The new Health Protocols document provides strategies and approaches that can be implemented to foster a safe and supportive learning environment. ⬇️

Things to prioritize with young female athletes:
• being able to absorb forces in different planes of motion
• work on motor control and neuromuscular training
• educate and relate training to their sport
• create fun and competitive environment for overall success
When I taught @DangeRussWilson 5th grade #physed I saw high school kids hand him a football & ask him to throw it sometimes after school. They would then jump up & down in excitement & he would grin ear to ear. Great memories from Collegiate!
Agreed. More is not better, especially in a quality repetition/experience based curriculum. Having a curriculum that allows more quality opportunities that focus on student movement gaps should be prioritized over a broad based approach.
I don't think the standards need to be revised as much as scaled back in terms of expectations. There's just too much content for actual time and class size to achieve success.
I've found that working at a "Speed School", the athletes that can actually pick up on speed/agility techniques are ones who have a solid foundation of coordination, strength, balance, and spacial awareness. If they don't have those prerequisites, it's like teaching a brick
In the construction industry I hear lots more discussion about the finishes that go on a building, more than the foundation itself.
This is often true in the rest of life. We get so wrapped up in what the finished product looks like that we forget to focus on the foundation.
✋ I'd like to make this #MustFollow list even better. If you are currently on this list, could you fill out this form with some more details on the grade levels that you teach in #physed? Thanks! Please retweet!
