Bon Air – Fallston: Claude Francois Frederick de la Porte , a French Count & Col. Purchased 200 acres in 1793 where they built this beautiful French style house w/its hipped roof, courtyard & unique details. He first visited Harford Co during the Rev. War with Lafayette’s Army.
The historic B&O railroad station in Aberdeen was designed by Frank Furness, a famous architect and Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, & built circa 1885. Passenger service to the station was discontinued in April 1958. The station is eligible to be on the National Register.
In the 1950s, Reuben’s Drive Inn was the hot spot in Bel Air. Burgers, fries and a place to hang out and have fun. The restaurant was built on the old Irwin Farm property next to Bynum Run. Girls on roller skates served customers and teens came to see and be seen.
