@Elektor_US@Elektor Not related to the design but I wonder which CAD tool(s) was used to make these monochrome schematics from the 2000s. Very nostalgic. Secondly if I can style KiCAD schematics to look the same without editing every symbol.
The Makerbase/Open MKS servo driver/encoder boards that piggybacks to a NEMA11/14/17/23 stepper motor with CAN bus interface is really clever. However, why choose steppers (with lesser torque) if encoders and feedback loops is required anyways?

I found two manufacturers of hobby sized servos of high quality with RS485 (and others) interface, where control loop is integrated in the driver. Adjust accelleration, speed, position etc.

For less than $10, you can have brushless motor with integrated motor driver, optical encoder and electronic brake. Like how the seller warns you they don't know how to use it.
@boxcardavid Even more interesting (to me) are those tiny stepper motors. Actually thought the price was a bit steep. As have been mentioned earlier, it probably originates from some floppy or CD-ROM drive assembly.
@RueNahcMohr I don't understand the SCL:SDA for each step. Does x mean "don't care"? Doesn't make sense to me because clock is always part of any data transmission.
@10yearswiser No, I meant a software that did schematic capture in vector format (I believe). Like the style of schematics you see in datasheets. Not for netlisting/layout. Could be just a plugin for some other software!
