As the people who spend the most time with students, teachers must incorporate support for mental health into their classrooms. Acknowledging the change, addressing grief, and providing means for students to express themselves can help students learn how to cope with uncertainty.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, teachers, school counselors and employees have remained acutely focused on supporting their students and continuing to do their jobs. This may mean teaching, care-taking, and continuing to work through the same challenges that anyone else is.
We are extending our love and care to our teachers who still persevere to teach us. Giving time for self-care, managing work hours, and modelling self-compassion can help our educators stay mentally strong and take care of their emotional well-being.
The pandemic is surely something unexpected which has caused an uproar of confusion and anxiety in today’s society especially with children as they can only grasp so much of this uncertain time. Children respond in different ways.
Our parents must respond to their children’s reactions in a supportive way. Listening patiently to them with their struggles and opening up to them in a reassuring way of news about the pandemic let’s them know that they are loved and being cared for and they are not alone.
Labeling your emotions, managing your time with the 10-minute rule, and being grateful with what you have and can do can certainly change our outlook in life in a more positive way that helps us to cope with stresses.

In situations of uncertainty, it is important to learn and build a strong mentality in order for us to cope with the situation in a realistic and positive way.
