Due to the fact that the United States' population is aging and child-bearing is decreasing, there are concerns regarding the care-taking of those in the middle generation. #MsideFamSoc
Did you know that the United States has spent over 600 million dollars on creating successful marriages through PWORA? Surprisingly, this did not increase the success of marriages. In fact, a lot of these marriages showed an increase in violence. #MsideFamSoc
Thinking back to my childhood and life today, I can see that my parents used the democratic parenting style. They encouraged my siblings and I to work hard and make wise choices based on what is right. #MsideFamSoc
After discussing the different types of parenting in class, it is evident that "lawn-mower" parents are increasing. Instead of the past "helicopter" parents, the "lawn-mower" parents pave the way for their children. #MsideFamSoc
It is crazy to think about the extensive process to adopt a child. Proof of safe housing, an attorney, adoption fees, and many other processes are needed in order to adopt. Fees end up totaling 20,000 to 50,000 dollars to simply adopt. #msidefamsoc
Interesting to think about how the United States would change if we did not have debt from attending college. It would definitely have an impact on family formations and when they form. #MsideFamSoc
#MsideFamSoc Really interesting to see the age differences by state at which a person may get married. It would be interesting to look at the factors relating to the many different age ranges.
