Just started Tesla Robotaxi drives in Austin with no safety monitor in the car.
Congrats to the @Tesla_AI team!
If you’re interested in solving real-world AI, which is likely to lead to AGI imo, join Tesla AI. Solving real-world AI for Optimus will be 100X harder than cars.
This note regarding the importance of Elon leading Tesla is more relevant now than ever.
Tesla is at a critical juncture, as it is metamorphosing into the world leader in robotics. Creating large-scale, useful robots requires expertise across engineering design, manufacturing, real-world AI software, chips for AI, and more. Elon is, quite likely, the only person on Earth with deep skills and the right instincts across all these domains.
Please vote yes on the shareholder proposal, and let's bring extraordinary prosperity to the world.
The most unbelievable thing just happened in my Tesla Robotaxi.
There’s this dead end, which imo is the deadest dead end, where no Tesla has EVER been able to get out on FSD, without manual help. I ordered the Robotaxi from there just to test it, but this time there was a garbage truck in the way… and what happened next blew my mind.
• Attempt #1: It backed up, paused, seemed unsure, then gave up and pulled forward again right back into the dead end.
• Attempt #2: This time, it backed up, tried turning the wheel left to find an angle out, but again, couldn’t quite figure it out and went back to the dead end.
• Attempt #3: Here’s where it got wild. As it backed up, a garbage truck suddenly pulled up, blocking part of the road. The Robotaxi slowed down, waited, observed the truck backing up for it, and learned from it. It then adjusted its trajectory, turned the wheel left, reversed, and then found its way out!
What mind boggles me is that the AI learned in real-time. It seems like it took cues from its environment, analyzed the movement of the garbage truck, and then used that info to solve a problem that it failed twice before. This was real-world AI learning and adapting happening live!
Absolutely mind-blowing.
The image signal processor (ISP) is traditional hardware that tweaks raw camera data—like fixing brightness, colors, and noise—before feeding it to the main chip. Tesla's ditching it in AI5 because their neural nets are trained directly on unprocessed "photon counts" (raw light data), skipping the middleman for efficiency and purity. It's bold: no more legacy crutches, just AI handling everything end-to-end, which could boost performance for FSD while saving silicon real estate.
"We're going to focus TSMC and Samsung, initially, on AI5. The AI5 chip, design by Tesla, it's an amazing design. I've spent almost every weekend for the last few months with the chip team working on AI5."
It will be 40x better than the AI4 chip, Musk says.
Let’s be real… we were all waiting to see how Tesla FSD 14.1.2 would handle NYC (Manhattan).
@01Ananto and I went on a 2-hour drive in his 2026 HW4 Model Y and wow did it not disappoint.
There are some insane moments in this 46-minute condensed video that blew both of our minds.
Honestly shocking that Tesla is waiting for 14.2 to push wide, because this drive on Mad Max already felt incredible.
Huge thanks to Ananto for making this video with me. Please check out the extended cut with extra Insta360 angles which he posted. He absolutely deserves a follow as well!
