@KingdomDefTrain@uncle_mafell@FiresideYankees Hes a young player with new coaching who has clearly improved the entire teams performance. You also are acting as if its impossible to drastically improve, as if everyone starts their career as a star and never gets better
@KingdomDefTrain@uncle_mafell@FiresideYankees And you’re completely incapable of making any comeback that actually has to do with the trade. “Losing team since the trade” has everything to do with current situation and supporting cast, not the trade.
Love that my losing team has a WS win more recently than the Yankees too
@KingdomDefTrain@uncle_mafell@FiresideYankees Are you dense? You’ve completely ignored the combined value of the trade throughout the entire convo. Its extremely clear and obvious that the face value of the trade leans in the Nats favor when you compare the direct value. I’ll take Abrams, Wood, Gore alone over Soto any day.
@KingdomDefTrain@uncle_mafell@FiresideYankees Sure they got prospects from the Yanks but they still didnt complete their win now ambition.
Do they have a better team? As far as I’m concerned we’re 1 game back from them after winning the series 2-1 this past weekend.
@KingdomDefTrain@uncle_mafell@FiresideYankees Rebuilding is all about value adding when the time is right… The Nationals put themselves in a better situation in the future by trading Soto in exchange for Abrams, Wood, Gore rather than building Soto around the junk we had. We also got better draft picks by getting worse
@KingdomDefTrain@uncle_mafell@FiresideYankees Another thing to consider is that the Padres traded for Soto in a “win now” situation in an attempt to win a World Series, which they have not done. So what exactly did they gain? A few playoff appearances at the expense of top talent in their farm?
@KingdomDefTrain@uncle_mafell@FiresideYankees The Nationals were old and had bad contacts after they won. While trading Soto isn’t wasnt success it improved the teams long term success. Please look into the prospects we got from the Gore trade and their current performance, which should be considered in what we got from Soto
@KingdomDefTrain@uncle_mafell@FiresideYankees I cannot understand how you can call Abrams a let down while hes currently one of the best hitters in the league. James Wood is the hottest young prospect in the game with absurd power, ability hit oppo, makes gold glove level plays, and currently has a higher WAR than Soto
@KingdomDefTrain@uncle_mafell@FiresideYankees We traded Soto for CJ Abrams, James Wood, Mackenzie Gore (whoever we just traded to Rangers for an abundance of prospects), Robert Hassell III, and more. We absolutely fleeced the Padres, nice try tho buddy😭😭😭
