Great to see a once neglected space that our members helped flip into a DIY soccer court for Houstonians now be recognized and used by the Houston Dynamo and Dash.
Houston is getting ready for the world stage.
Ahead of FIFA World Cup 2026, partners across the city have been moving projects forward that will make Houston more welcoming, connected and ready—not just for visitors, but for all Houstonians long after the final whistle.
See how more than 200 projects, nearly $500 million in citywide investment, and a broad coalition of partners are coming together to help Houston meet this historic moment.
This is how Houston hosts better: moving big ideas forward together to host in a way that leaves the city stronger.
🇨🇴Richard Ríos NEVER played professional football in Colombia
In 2018, he played for his country's U-20 futsal team at a South American Futsal Championship in Perú. Colombia placed 5th (pictured).
From there he was invited to trial at Brazilian club Flamengo where he made the cut. Fast forward a couple years, he plays for Palmeiras where he won the Brazilian Série A.
Despite his unusual career path, he caught the eye of national team manager Néstor Lorenzo and debuted for Colombia in October 2023.
Now on the door step of lifting the Copa América, he has played a pivotal role in the success of Colombia at this tournament and beyond. He's played 12 games with Colombia and NEVER lost.
