Monocoque refers to the “survival cell” that protects the F1 driver. It is made from carbon fibre reinforced composites and is virtually indestructible. The monocoque, despite being strong, is amazingly light. This helps to keep the car weight very low.

93 years ago, the first ever Monaco Grand Prix was held in Monte Carlo. The event was organized by Anthony Noghès. British driver William Grover Williams completed the race in 3 hours, 56 minutes and 11 seconds.

After we got our hand sticky from last experiment, we made a scaled-down model using cardboard to test out how our skin would look like. As we are getting more familiar to this process, we will start the making of skin very soon.

MGU-K, Motor Generator Unit-Kinetic, situated underneath the oil tank in a recess at the back of the chassis. When braking, it acts as a generator, recovering some of the kinetic energy dissipated during braking.

The first Australian Grand Prix was held 94 years ago on this day at the Phillip Island Circuit. The circuit was used as the venue for the Grand Prix from 1928 to 1935. Since then, there has been 23 different locations around Australia.
