A good friend of The Teahouse, Dr. @HYinxuan, sharing thoughts and observations with @CTmagazine about shifts and trends amongst Chinese-heritage worshippers, adding an important perspective to the conversations and reflections on Evangelicalism.

Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of meeting some truly inspiring people — not least my good friend Dr @HYinxuan whose ground-breaking research explores the worship practices and faith journeys of Chinese-heritage Christians across Asia and the wider diaspora.
His recent comments in @CTmagazine are well worth reading, offering fresh insight into what may be happening not only within Chinese-heritage churches, but across the global Church more broadly.

Every generous act of giving, with every perfect gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

New Bible Society research has found that people who go to church are happier than those who don’t.
The findings also suggest that a caring church environment enhances good mental health in young people, especially women.
People in church are more connected to the wider community. Nearly two-thirds of young adult churchgoers feel close to people in their local area, compared to a quarter of non-churchgoers their age.

#TheQuietRevival
My tame take for @Theosthinktank on why the recurring claims that Easter originated as a pagan festival are absurd. And why it is dangerous to let them go unchallenged. For the uncensored version, my lips can be unsealed for the modest sum of a pint.

The numbers don’t lie, and according to new research by Bible Society and YouGov the numbers are up, from 8% of adults in 2018 to 12% in 2024.
That means for every two people in England and Wales who went to church, back in 2018, there are now three.
That 50% growth figure is the overall average. Young adults in particular are attending church more than they have in a long time. Compared to 2018, four times as many under-25s attend church. And the percentage of young men in church has shot up from 4% to 21% far above the average.
As the old certainties crumble, the search for meaning intensifies. The numbers don’t lie.

A historic night at the @ChineseChurch in London. We gathered to celebrate the launch of ‘Chinese Heritage and British Christianity’ (@SCM_Press)—the first academic volume of its kind to spotlight the voices, stories, and theological reflections of Chinese heritage Christians in the UK.
It was incredibly moving to stand alongside fellow contributors, and even more powerful to be surrounded by so many who came to support, listen, and bear witness to this moment.
In a church that has held generations of Chinese Christian life in Britain, we marked something new: the beginning of a public, published, and theologically grounded conversation about identity, belonging, and calling in this land.
Grateful. Humbled. Hopeful.

The @churchofengland General Synod met for the first time since the Archbishop of Canterbury resigned and the Bishop of Liverpool retired. In this discussion, journalists who reported on the meeting reflect on how @synod dealt with the crisis on its hands: https://t.co/14nfu0sooi
“God’s question to Jonah is a timeless reminder: His mercy is far-reaching. And we are called to extend this same mercy to those we may wrestle with accepting,” writes @HYinxuan.

So grateful to share reflections on the tensions between Hong Kong & mainland believers in Britain’s Chinese churches based on my research for @biblesociety . These divides are real and deep, but facing them openly can lead to deeper unity in Christ.
