The 6’8” forward from St. Louis, Missouri committed to Duke as one of the nation’s most coveted recruits. Ranked 8th overall in the 2016 class by 247Sports, Tatum arrived in Durham as a McDonald’s All-American, Jordan Brand Classic All-American, Nike Hoop Summit selection, and the 2016 Gatorade National Player of the Year.

Despite playing just one season at Duke, Tatum established himself as one of the program’s most complete freshmen.

In 29 games, he averaged:
• 16.8 PPG
• 7.3 RPG
• 2.1 APG
• 1.3 SPG
• 45.2 FG%
• 84.9 FT%

Tatum finished his freshman campaign with:
• ACC All-Freshman Team
• ACC Tournament Champion
• All-ACC Third Team
• ACC Tournament First Team
• NCAA Tournament East Region All-Tournament Team

His biggest moments came when the lights were brightest:
• 24 points & 7 rebounds vs. Florida in the NCAA Tournament
• 22 points & 6 rebounds vs. Notre Dame in the ACC Tournament Championship
• 19 games scoring in double figures
• 7 games with 20+ points

After one season in Durham, Tatum declared for the NBA Draft and was selected No. 3 overall by the Boston Celtics in 2017.

A commitment that helped shape The Brotherhood for years to come.
