The spectacular reduction of farm land needed per person is a statistic everyone should be taught at school. It is also a tribute to scientific progress, innovation by farmers, national & international policies, esp trade. The next step: increase natural resource area per person
@WattisDuurzaam Zelf werkzaam in telecom R&D.
I am the United Nations.
In January I watched Iran kill over two thousand protesters. I watched them shoot children. Two hundred and sixteen children.
I watched the security forces beat a Nobel Peace Prize laureate in the street and drag her back to prison where she already owed 154 lashes from a previous sentence. I issued a statement.
On February 11 my Secretary-General sent Iran a congratulatory letter. For the anniversary of the revolution. The same revolution whose security forces had just finished killing two thousand people.
My spokesperson called the letter "standard diplomatic protocol." It was. That is the problem.
On February 13 I elected Iran Vice-Chair of my Commission for Social Development. The Commission's priority theme this year is promoting democracy, gender equality, and ensuring tolerance and non-violence.
Iran imprisons women for showing their hair.
Iran executed two thousand people last year.
The chair said "I hear no objection." He was correct. No member state objected. The European Union, which blocked Russia from a similar appointment last year, said nothing. Not one country said no.
This is not a new pattern.
Last year I let Saudi Arabia chair my Commission on the Status of Women. Saudi Arabia, where a woman was sentenced to eleven years in prison for posting a photograph without an abaya. Saudi Arabia, ranked 131st in the world on women's rights. They chaired women's rights. Nobody objected to that either.
Today my Secretary-General stood at the African Union Summit and said "Africa must be at the table."
He is correct.
Africa must be at the table.
The table where Iran oversees women's rights.
The table where Saudi Arabia chaired gender equality.
The table where a congratulatory letter arrives thirty-five days after a massacre and my spokesperson calls it protocol.
The chair said "I hear no objection."
He never does.
That is how the table works.
P.S.
The US still owes us money.
In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade. On this day in 1983, a TV series of these brave men was broadcast for the first time.
Vandaag mag @StAmbulancewens de 25.000 ste wens vervullen.
Voor 1 keer trending worden op X zou een leuk cadeautje zijn, helpen jullie mee met een RT ?
WATCH: Native Americans are protesting after ICE detained 4 Oglala Sioux tribal members in Minneapolis.
Three are still unaccounted for.
Let that sink in.
The original Americans are getting treated like “illegal aliens” by masked federal agents.
France is committed to the sovereignty and independence of nations, in Europe and elsewhere. This guides our choices. It underpins our commitment to the United Nations and to its Charter.
It is on this basis that we support, and will continue to support Ukraine and that we have built a coalition of the willing for a robust and lasting peace, to defend these principles and our security.
It is also on this basis that we decided to take part in the exercise organized by Denmark in Greenland. We fully assume this decision, because security in the Arctic and at the outer edges of our Europe is at stake.
No intimidation or threat will influence us—neither in Ukraine, nor in Greenland, nor anywhere else in the world when we are confronted with such situations.
Tariff threats are unacceptable and have no place in this context. Europeans will respond in a united and coordinated manner should they be confirmed. We will ensure that European sovereignty is upheld.
It is in this spirit that I will engage with our European partners.
Maduro's not a good guy, agreed. But neither is Putin, and Trump rolled out the red fucking carpet for him. It's not about dope, it's about oil (which kinda IS dope).
Just when you think Trump has hit the gutter, he bounces lower.
To believe this is about drug smuggling, you have to ignore Trump’s pardon of the former Honduran president for drug smuggling.
To believe it’s about Maduro’s democratic legitimacy, you have to believe Trump cares even slightly about democratic legitimacy.

‼️BREAKING: ZELENSKYY RESPONDED TO INDIAN PM AND OTHERS WHO UNFAIRLY CONDEMNED UKRAINE FOR A STAGED ATTACK ON PUTIN'S DACHA
"You know what honestly causes confusion and, well, uncomfortable feelings? That representatives from India, the Emirates, and several other countries condemned supposed drone strikes on Putin's residence that never even happened. But where's their condemnation? By the way, condemnation of the fact that they're bombing our children and killing our people this whole time. I don't hear anything from India or the Emirates about that, to be honest," - Zelenskyy said to journalists on Tuesday, Dec. 30.
