Your state has just successfully hosted what is adjudged by all stakeholders as the Best National Sports Festival in Nigeria’s history.

Your State athletes have just finished second on the Sports Festival Table in the most dramatic fashion.

Yet you can’t celebrate the win. Because you have been conditioned to never see/acknowledge any good of your own. You are afraid to talk because it’s not cool to praise your state, or because you have unaddressed valid complains. Complains that you can still raise tomorrow and would be addressed eventually.

That aside, this #GatewayGames2024 is a remarkable sporting achievement, a success story by every measure. You can celebrate the Governor and your state for it and still return to your sincere criticisms tomorrow. If any other state pulled this off, we will never hear the end of it, and you will join to celebrate them. So why are you afraid to celebrate your own wins?

The people you are afraid of would take this type win and celebrate with their full chest.

You can celebrate the government for one thing and criticize for the other, that’s very much okay. But when the only thing you see is negativity, you have to watch yourself. Is it cowardice or sadism?
