Holocaust Memorial Day was marked with an assembly on this year’s theme, Bridging Generations. Mrs Selouk shared her grandmother’s story, Mr Sykes spoke on reconciliation and the Jewish Society co-chairs led a prayer, reminding us to reflect, learn and challenge prejudice.

Habs Boys ranked 31st, and 3rd placed independent day school for boys, in the School Sport Magazine Top 200 Sporting Schools 2025.

Year 6 explored chemical reactions and the periodic table, with Mrs Patel’s brilliant elephant’s toothpaste experiment 🐘🧪 The lesson sparked curiosity, creativity and problem-solving, laying a solid STEM foundation for the year ahead.

Prep pupils embraced the festive spirit with daily activities and cheeky elves! Reception wowed with a charming Nativity, and for the first time, Years 1–6 united for a concert of carols and Sister Act hits—ending with ‘This Is Me,’ a tear-jerking finale!

WISE has run at Habs Elstree for 18 months, creating a supportive space for colleagues. Founded by female staff and open to all, it builds confidence and shared learning through discussion. Next year, we are adding a WISE committee, external speakers and 1:1 peer mentoring.

Love singing? 🎶 Join Elstree Community Choir! No auditions, all adults welcome - whether you read music or not. We meet Wednesdays, 7 to 9pm at Habs Boys School. Join our free taster session on Wednesday 14 Jan at 7pm. Come sing, have fun and join a friendly community!

We had a fantastic number of trips this term, including our first joint trip to Indonesia, and visits to Japan, Germany, Spain and France. These trips give our students the opportunity to bring their classroom learning to life.

Our choirs from both Prep and Senior Schools sang at the Carol Service at the St Albans Abbey. The students guided us through a service of nine lessons and carols.
It's wonderful to see students singing, connected with a choral tradition that has a proud history at our school.

Our Middle School play explored a community centre where tragedy strikes, and the community must come together to heal. The performances were spectacular, captivating the audience with this story of forgiveness. Congratulations to our students and to Mr Weinman for his direction!

Habs staff Clare Jarmy and Sabrina Nanji and student AI Champion Enora (13 IC/RY) have co-authored a chapter in AI Bias in Education (Dec 2025). Their work highlights how GenAI can reinforce stereotypes, and why critical, inclusive oversight matters in schools. Congratulations!👏

Our first Under the Lights event was full of energy, talent and Habs spirit! Elin (13 JJM/SN) sealed a lacrosse win in the final seconds, our U18 and U15 rugby teams performed brilliantly and our dance teams lit up the interval with dynamic routines. 🥍🏉 Well done, everyone!
