Jeff Gorton discussed the future of two key prospects: Michael Hage and Alexander Zharovsky.
While neither player is expected to play in Montreal next season, Gorton left the door open should the situation change in the summer.

Jeff Gorton when asked if Habs prospect Michael Hage will return to Michigan next season:
“That’s a good question. We’ve talked to Michael a lot. He’s told us that he would like to stay in school and we’ve kinda left it there. But we also told him to take some time. It’s a long summer, things happen.”
“Maybe we add people, maybe we don’t. If there’s something that you see that changes your mind. Maybe something happens at Michigan that changes your mind. So we’ve left it open. We’ll continue to talk to Michael. We’re gonna respect his opinion and if he wants to change that, we’ll be open to that discussion. If he wants to stay there, we’ll support him with that.”
Elliotte Friedman on the Canadiens: “I think Montreal is a team that is really stealthily trying (to add); I wouldn’t be surprised if they were a Marchenko team, for example.”
The Habs were sneaky last year to jump on the Noah Dobson RFA situation with the NYI.
Kirill Marchenko, who is one year away from being an RFA, could find himself in the same situation.
Sources say CLB doesn't want to move him though, but are listening.
Something to monitor.

RE: Mason McTavish.
There is league-wide interest (MIN, OTT, PHI, etc), but the price remains high on him despite some pretty big questions marks.
The Habs do have some level of interest, and likely would pursue if Pat Verbeek lowered his price.
No interest in overpaying.
No-trade and no-move clauses are not the industry standard in North American sports. NHL contracts represent the outlier.
Approximate number of no-trades/no-moves:
NFL: 8
NBA: 2
MLB: 35
NHL: 245
A 30-year-old winger with one 70-point season (three years ago) is going to be paid $10.5M AAV until the age of 38. Is the plan in Washington to play Kyrou at center? I don't quite get the vision.
Michael Hage's decision to head back to Michigan and win a natty looks much better now.
That's a ton of talent to play with while getting max minutes and gym time.
Many thought he'd be in MTL this year, myself included, but this may pay off nicely for the Canadiens long-term.
So, if we expect $12.5M AAV range for Bedard on a short-to-mid term deal, and say $15M AAV or more on full term, and then around $10M AAV for Byram extension, that’s a decent amount of cheese for Chicago’s deep dish za.
Félicitations à Carey Price pour avoir été élu au Temple de la renommée du hockey! 👏
Congratulations to @CP0031 on being elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame!
