Today we honor the life and legacy of Gordon “Scooter” Whiting — the true definition of a Comet for Life.

Coach Whiting dedicated his life to Hackensack and served this community in countless ways — as a coach, mentor, educator, counselor, role model, father figure, community leader, and proud ambassador of Hackensack Football.

To generations of student-athletes, Scooter was more than a coach. He was someone who believed in people before they believed in themselves. He pushed young men to be tougher, more disciplined, more accountable, and better prepared for life beyond football.

He represented everything Hackensack Football stands for:
Pride. Toughness. Brotherhood. Loyalty. Tradition.

Whether it was on the field, in the hallways, in the community, or simply through a conversation when someone needed guidance, Coach Whiting made an impact that can never be measured by wins and losses alone.

His influence helped shape generations of Comets, and his legacy will forever live on through every player, coach, student, and family he inspired along the way.

The lessons he taught…
The standards he upheld…
The love he had for Hackensack…
Those things will never fade.

Thank you for everything, Coach.
