In January 1969, Jimi Hendrix was banned from the BBC after derailing a live broadcast with a defiant, unscripted tribute.

He was scheduled to play ‘Hey Joe’ on ‘Happening for Lulu’, then bring Lulu herself onstage for a rehearsed duet. But midway through the performance, Hendrix unexpectedly stopped and launched into a thunderous rendition of Cream’s ‘Sunshine of Your Love’ instead.

Cream had just split up, and Hendrix’s surprise gesture was his way of honoring a group he deeply respected.

The BBC and producer Stanley Dorfman were furious. The show ran over time, Lulu’s final segment was cut, and Hendrix was banned from all future appearances.

But the moment was legendary. It captured what made Hendrix iconic: raw spontaneity, deep reverence for fellow musicians, and zero regard for rules.

America needs its foothold in Europe, the 100,000 troops on 40 bases across this continent, to project power globally.

Especially in the Middle East (good luck going to war with Iran without it).

An end to NATO means an end to 🇺🇸occupation. And 🇺🇸 will never leave voluntarily.

Europeans should call the MAGA bluff. If they think their occupation of Europe is such a burden, then let's threaten to kick them out. Watch how they respond.
