1: consider the data - delirium in dementia is a disaster - a single episode doubles rate of cognitive decline, 40% mortality and doubles LOS
2: ask yourself and the family - “would they thank us for what we are doing!”

@JanjuaAdam This does work both ways. As a geriatrician I frequently have patients come to my clinic for follow up about one thing and they’ve spoken to the GP about another issue recently and been told “oh you’re seeing the geriatrician next week - ask them about it”.

I feel I need to redefine a term for geriatricians - the PR interval. New definition - the time interval on the Consultant ward round between the nurses reporting no bowel action for 5 days and the moment the juniors are told by the boss one of the jobs they’ll be doing later

Slightly concerning observation from the Scarlets vs Ospreys match. Why is the queue for the male toilets at sporting events always much longer than the queue for the sinks? In fact - there is no queue for the sinks

Moral dilemma - a man stopped me in the hospital corridor today to ask me where he could go outside for a fag. There is no smoking on the hospital grounds so the directions I gave him were actually for the smoking cessation office!
