@beardybanjo Yup, the ones I know of are great grandparents, but I only know as much as I do because they were the kind of people who got books written about them. I know very little about others of that generation, and all grandparents were too young for WWI.

Gosh. There was a class of children on the train @AvantiWestCoast cancelled while passengers were on board. Teachers had to source THEIR OWN COACH to take 12 year-olds home as they weren't allowed to put unaccompanied children into taxis (50 kids, 5 adults on trip)...

I had a similar experience getting bundled into a cab back to Glasgow (from Penrith, maybe?) over 20 years ago. We were to be taken directly home - tho in hindsight we were more 'vulnerable': me a teen girl, an elderly couple, plus some others I don't remember. Unfortunately...
