Abiy Ahmed may talk about the Red Sea nonstop to distract from the real issues, but he can’t fool the world. Under his leadership, #Ethiopia has become a failed state.
The usual Conflict Enterpreneurs (Rene Lefort et al) and some legacy media outlets (AP News, etc.) seem to resuscitate these days baseless accusations against the EDF.
The particular timing and malicious packaging of their fallacious "reports" belie their penchant for stoking and perpetuating chaos and conflict in our region. EDF's Rules of Engagement and track-record are otherwise crystal clear as illustrated in the analytic article attached below.

Profile Q & A: Vintage Asmarino Woven into Modern Garments: Awet New York’s Asmara Collection; by Sabrina Solomon
"Eritrean heritage is woven throughout the brand. Our online shop and stores feature pieces like the Biniam Leatherman jacket, the Nahom pants, the Eyob shirt, and the Saba dress. I wanted to use Eritrean names, just as we use names like Jennifer and Cali. It’s time to uplift our people".
"...Beyond the show, we’re also shooting our first fashion editorial campaign here, capturing the essence of 'Once Upon a Time in Asmara'. We have an incredible team and local models who have become friends. Our goal is to open Pandora’s Box and reveal the beauty of Asmara. People don’t know Asmara the way we do. This project will hopefully change that, inspiring others and opening opportunities for the city and the country".

Opening Statement as well as Concluding Remarks by #Eritrea's Delegation at 58th Session of the Human Rights Council; 27 Feb. 2025
"...Eritrea is not a nation that shirks accountability. Despite immense challenges, we have made significant strides in education, health, and social equality—achievements consistently overlooked by the 'Special Mandate’s' narrow perspective. We invite genuine partnership and cooperation, not finger-pointing and condemnation. The 'Special Mandate', however, offers neither. It remains a relic of a flawed approach that prioritizes geopolitics over progress...".

President Isaias Afwerki met and held extensive discussions, yesterday evening at the Denden Guest House, with H.E. Bankole Adeoye, AU Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, on continental challenges and particularly on recent developments and trends in the Horn of Africa.
President Isaias referred to the deplorable practices and propensity of extraneous forces to portray Africa as the "poster child of civil wars" esssentially in order to rationalize their insidious acts to meddle in and manage these conflicts. Unfortunately, the AU has so far failed to take remedial measures to rectify these practices. The primary focus should be to prevent the eruption of conflicts instead of funneling time and energy on "managing" wars and crises, President Isaias emphasized.
The AU's structural weaknesses coupled with external intervention are hampering the continental organization from fulfilling the aspirations and expectations of the African peoples. Sadly, the AU has lost the capacity and wherewithal to say "No" and reject the complicating agendas certain countries continue to flaunt to advance their perceived interests.
President Isaias underlined that in Eritrea's perspectives, development plans that are charted out are closely intertwined with the promotion and crystallization of peace and security in the wider Horn of Africa, Nile Basin, Red Sea and Gulf Regions.
On the Sudan, Eritrea's firm and pronounced position has been and remains for the tragic conflict to be resolved by the Sudanese people themselves. Yet, external forces continue to compound and exacerbate the conflict thereby hampering the stability of the region.
Eritrea strongly believes in a strong Somalia that occupies its rightful place in the region. In this respect, Eritrea continues to make its modest contributions in bolstering the Somali National Army and related institutions.
In a brief statement to the Eritrean News Agency, Commissioner Adeoye stated that discussions on developments in the Horn of Africa, and especially on the prevailing situations in the Sudan and Somalia, were both profound and insightful.
As part and parcel of the periodic forums of bilateral consultation, President Isaias Afwerki met, yesterday evening at the Denden Guest House, Egyptian Delegation led by Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty.
The extensive discussions focussed on further consolidation of the ties of cooperation between the two countries as well as regional - Horn of Africa and Red Sea - issues of mutual importance.
Themes addressed in greater depth include: the quest for an expeditious and peaceful solution to the conflict in the Sudan; endeavours underway on nation-building in Somalia; as well as challenges of peace and security in the Horn of Africa and Red Sea Regions.
In a brief statement to the Eritrean News Agency, Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty stated that the periodic consultations are aimed at cultivating common positions on vital matters of regional security and stability.
Good Read: An Essential Tool for Sustaining Progress and Fostering a more Inclusive Future; by Dr. Fikre
*#Eritrea’s mother language policy has been instrumental in expanding educational access, improving inclusivity and quality, reducing repetition and dropout rates, and enhancing literacy and academic outcomes.
*Even if one cannot postulate for a direct correlation, the dividend accrued from this approach in combination with other factors is evident. As it happens, school enrolment across all levels has nearly tripled since independence (now hovering more than 700,000), while youth literacy now exceeds 93 percent.

Excellent Read: #Eritrea's Northern Red Sea Region: A Treasure Trove of Tourism; by Mussie Efriem
*The Northern Red Sea (NRS) region of Eritrea offers a captivating blend of land and maritime tourism... Beyond the mainland, over 300 islands dot the azure waters, creating a network of hidden coves and vibrant ecosystems. The Dahlak Archipelago and the Hawakil Islands are renowned for their rich marine biodiversity, showcasing the region’s unparalleled natural heritage.
*Beyond its maritime attractions, the region offers diverse terrestrial tourism opportunities, including scenic landscapes, historical archaeological sites, and recreational areas teeming with wildlife and avian species. Furthermore, the region preserves fortifications used during Eritrea’s struggle for independence, providing insight into the nation’s history.
*The NRS region extends its allure beyond marine and coastal resources, revealing a rich tapestry of archaeological and historical sites spanning diverse eras. It holds a profound record of prehistoric life, with paleontological discoveries extending back millions of years. Notably, the 1997 discovery of an elephant fossil in Dogali, dated approximately 27-28 million years ago, has significantly contributed to our understanding of the evolutionary lineage of modern African elephants. This fossil provides crucial insights into these creatures’ ancestral forms and developmental stages. Furthermore, the Buya site is a remarkable paleontological treasure trove. Located near the village of Buya, 110 kilometers from Massawa, this site is renowned for the discovery of “Madam Buya,” a one-millionyear- old cranium of Homo erectus.

Good Read: #EritreanWomen - Smashing all Barriers and Reshaping Outdated Societal Perceptions; by Dr. Fikre
"Over the past three decades, Eritrean women have made remarkable strides, smashing all barriers and reshaping societal perceptions. Their contributions across various sectors highlight their agency, resilience, and indispensable role in national progress. Today, the truth is that Eritrea, without the contributions of its women and girls, would be like a bird without wings. Through continuing to promote gender equality and empower women, Eritrea will pave the way for a more inclusive and prosperous future".

The Agreement was signed by Eritrea's Minister of Finance and National Development, Dr. Giorgis Teklemikael, and , Dr. Leandre Bassole, AfFB's Deputy Director-General for East Africa.
The current agreement supplements the 50 million USD ongoing Project signed last year for a solar plant in Dekemhare.
These projects are part and parcel of a comprehensive medium-term road map that the GOE has charted out to install 12 modular, 30-megawatt each (360 MW in aggregate) energy plants across the country to bolster and augument existing national power output.
Profile Q & A - My Biggest Dream: To Serve My Country” – Dr. Hali Yassin Hassan
"...We have a unique and welcoming culture. My work experience here was significantly different from my time in Sudan. Eritrea is known for its security and peaceful people. I encourage Eritrean Diasporas to return and contribute, even in small ways. Come, help your nation, experience your culture, and see for yourself instead of just hearing about it...".

From the diplomatic grapevine: "the new ruse of shifting blame to Eritrea for the failure of the full implementation of the Pretoria Agreement seems both disingenuous and rather pathetic. The Pretoria Agreement signed more than two years ago (in November 2022) had narrow timelines of implementation stretching from few weeks to a couple of months. Problems it has encountered in smooth and speedy implementation surely pre-date the quite recent political schisms within the TPLF".
The fact is the tension in the wider region squarely stems from the the toxic agenda of territorial irredentism; from unwarranted pronouncements and related sabre-rattling for acquiring a port and maritime territory "legally if possible and militarily if necessary". This is the malaise that warrants firm and unequivocal legal & moral stance by all countries who cherish the peace and stability of the Horn of Africa region.
