@jpbrca @dpatrickrodgers I once saw a child with no shoes on filling up a gallon of water at that location. And I’d go back today if someone invited me.
Can anyone point me to any studies around K-12 attendance support and using punitive measures to get kids to school everyday? My kid doesn’t miss enough school that it matters as much, but I’m curious about the method of withholding a fun activity to get kids to school.
@AnneMarieDF This is for kids K-6. I also know teen truancy is a huge issue because I was not really made to go to school at that age. I’m not sure what would’ve helped me specifically from a school intervention perspective, but clearly the truancy carried through to high school for me.
As a note, I’m sensitive to this because I grew up in a family that took us out of school constantly and I can’t see my folks having been swayed by a reward. I did miss out on things because of it and the only person it hurt was me, who had zero control over getting to school.
