This is an awesome activity that you can do with your class! It will help your students with comparing fraction sizes! I am definitely excited to do this with my students #literacy
How many fractions less than a half can your 3rd graders make? This @openmiddle problem from @MrsNewell22 will challenge your students! https://t.co/pV3gZbhTgs #iteachmath#MTBoS
In the reading, "Understanding Decimal Notation in Fractions" talks about how when teaching a decimal notations for the first time use fractions to help transitions and show how it looks different but it could represent the same number! #431MNSUF19
These 5 indicators of understanding from the reading "5 Indicators of Decimal Understanding" is very important because using these you can understand student thinking during a math lesson or assignment. #431MNSUF19
This is an awesome way to see student work! This makes it easier to make connections with what to do to help studnets by having an idea how they might think during a math lesson before we become educators ourselves! #431MNSUF19
From 5 Indicators of Decimals Understanding by Cramer, Monson, Ahrendt, Colum, Wiley, and Weyberg. I loved being able to see the student work and their understanding of the relationship between decimals and fractions. Then also the misconceptions with decimals. #431MNSUF19
I love this idea! Making decimals into a real world concept will help them understand decimals in a real world example and they will be able to connect with it more! #431MNSUF19
"Understanding Decimal Notation for Fractions" discussed a great technique of comparing decimals to money. Money is something lots of students have prior knowledge with and can compare it to the things they are learning about decimal notation. #431MNSUF19
Asking for help and advice on how to botch racism in math is a great way to gather ideas and help your ow self reflections grow and how to improve on this yourself! #431MNSUF19
What are your strategies to be self-reflective about equity issues in your own practice/classroom? I'm doing bkgrnd research in order to support teachers in this, & I'd love to hear from y'all! (more on my context on thread below) #ClearTheAir#BreakRanks#educolor@MisterMinor
I think this is a good way to get students involved in math and in social justices around the world. This helps make the students more aware of what is going on in society today! #431MNSUF19
Trying my best to incorporate social and racial justice issues in my math lessons. I have a perfect opportunity with translating word problems in one variable. Using district data to teach district students. I'll let y'all know how it goes. βπΎ #EduColor#mathteacher#math#Teach
This is so true! Surround yourself with people that lift you up and help you become a better person and friend! There is only one life we get so we might as well do it right!
This is a very important thing to understand when you are teaching a math lesson, or any lesson. If a student doesn't understand it the first time it isn't a good idea to keep teaching the lesson the same way. Try to switch it up a little bit! :)
I love this idea this will help students learn together to make their own understanding of 3D shapes in a fun activity. This activity will help make their communication with each other grow and better. This is a super fun activity that I would like to use this in my own classroom
This is a great way to think about learning to gain something from each others differences. This will help not only the student grow but the teacher grow as well. Realizing each others difference through discomfort is a great way to get students and teachers to learn to trust.
