@DanielJHannan You’re quite wrong. We clearly need more political appointees. Toadies are are obviously more effective at scrutinising legislation and holding the executive to account. Stands to reason.
@fast_upp@SimonCarGuy @OxfordshireCC A politician’s politician. No embarrassment, no shame, no ownership of consequences. Oxfordshire and its roads are being destroyed incrementally, and he is content to preside over it.
@markchristie@obbsie There’s something impressively casual about checking your phone while riding through a box junction, with police motorcycles right in front of you. But then, traffic law is clearly optional for cyclists — especially hire-bike ones.
@KYWildcat41063@airmainengineer On a 737 crew change, perhaps — it allows access to remove or replace a flight bag. On a 787, it’s just pointless. Some see it as etiquette; I don’t.
@SimonCarGuy Failing schools face intervention. Failing roads don’t. Time for nationally set, legally binding road-maintenance standards - and consequences when councils don’t meet them.
@AndyatAuto@WestNorthants We need national standards, which if not met, result in control being removed from local authorities - much like social care or education - it’s that serious.
@BaronWonderburg@Defencematrix1 Have you actually dealt with these failures in a simulator or aircraft, or are you basing this purely on a theoretical reading? The crews faced a highly dynamic, confusing, and energy-driven situation in a very different aircraft state than the checklist assumes.

@BaronWonderburg@Defencematrix1 I’ve practised both in the sim. A classic stab runaway is obvious, continuous, and stops when you remove electric trim. The MCAS failure was intermittent, re-engaged, drove airspeed and loads, and quickly became force-limited. They are not the same problem.
