Do you want to know what is funny after this allegation : the girl deleted her post where she said the design was her idea and comes from her «moodboard architectural».
The sketch in the second picture is the exact same sketch the designer shared with her and on his page. So you mean to tell me there is actual video evidence of them using his sketch to make the gown but people are all up in his comments harassing him for asking for credit??
That designer has like 2 theft allegations on his head: this one and the cathedral design. This is what happens when no one wants to be called a tailor, all want to be a designer

All this can be reduced to little respect for creative labour. Because even if a client brings you a sketch that was done by another illustrator, for your reputation you should ask about origin of it and confirm that they had clearance.
To be global, you have to be global.
People are being so unbelievably dishonest. In what world does the AI-generated pic look closer to the finished look than the sketch and design we can all see with our own eyes? You shared an idea via AI slop with long sleeves, disorganised architectural elements, nonsensical hems, etc. Someone else painstakingly did the work of drawing the sketch, outlining the architectural elements, designing the bodice, and giving it structure. Somehow the contract fell through and you gave that design to someone else to bring to life, completely leaving out the fact that the design and structure did not belong to them. Now it’s your idea? But somehow the finished look looks nothing close to what you shared? So disrespectful.
The lack of integrity is appalling because how do you let a brand develop a concept for you, discontinue the project and then give it to another designer to copy it for you?
Who remembers the orbit dress Abbazz made for Veekee James??? He STOLE the design, and claimed his sister inspired him, then his followers bullied the poor girl. I’m so glad he’s finally getting the heat he deserves now… on an international level.
The credibility of Nigerian designers and its designs is at a risk of being undermined by the lack of originality within the industry.
All over the world, Nigerians have had to fight against the damaging stereotypes and narratives of being “fraudsters/419ers”
I was initially uncredited, then credited by the stylist & Toni Tones for being the source of design inspiration, (after I publicly highlighted it) but my credit has since been removed by Toni again. Just incredibly unprofessional & disappointing overall. Being a black & established talent in the fashion industry, it’s disappointing that people think they can do things like this, especially to a fellow black creative. This could’ve been a great collaborative moment, as I’ve designed outfits for some of the world’s biggest stars, who have credited me.
Some Nigerians have become so comfortable replicating people’s designs that they don’t even see anything wrong with it anymore. It’s now a thing of, “If we can’t afford you, we’ll just give it to our tailor to make a cheaper version,” and honestly, that’s sad tbh
This year was supposed to be my AMVCA debut as an upcoming designer. I created this in February, but for so many reasons, the plans never left the group chat. We try again some other time.💕
Y’all want these designers at the met gala… I don’t even know which one is crazier, the ones stealing designs ???
Or the fact that all the pics being posted aren’t even from the red carpet but a photoshoot done before AMVCA😂
